Freshwater Reports / Can't find em

Tried Whitehurst for four hours this morning and only caught a wee dink on a shallow crank bait.   Tried again this evening but the sky darkened and the sparkly stuff was approaching so had to bail.  Rain was refreshing.   Avoided the skunk, barely...

Nice! When I used to fish for flounder a lot, baby spot was always my first bait of choice.

I haven't found a bowfin in 2 years, and I've caught 5 this week trying to find that elusive 2nd 20+ inch bass - had one on yesterday, but he shook my hook after a good fight. He almost jumped into my yak - that would have been a first, Got a good look at him, could have been a PB if I were able to land him.  NEXT TIME!!!!

Keep castin!

The rope pulley is an anchor trolley.   You tie off your anchor to the "ring" and can adjust whether off the bow or stern depending on preference.

The area you are "fishing" may not be the best choice this time of year, except for maybe Large Mouth Bass.   Not sure though.

Way to get out there.

A recommendation:  Go to Rudee, launch with ONLY the kayak, secured (tethered) seat, and pdf.   Practice flip and recovery with a full flip of the yak.   A really important skill to practice.   See if your PDF will have you floating face up or down?   Go all limp face down and see if it auto turns you over.   I was surprised that mine does.

Trip #2 did at least include some fishing.  Took 2 poles with bottom rigs and worms just for the heck of it.  Pole #1 snag and cut, pole #2 reminded me why it's called "fishing" and not "Catching"!  I was very disappointed when I got to the dock and realized I forgot my camera.  Was sure I was going to miss a picture of my very first fish in the kayak.  I still have time.

Another Newby Question:
What are the ropes/pullies on each side of the boat for?

Did learn a bit from the experience:
-Skag up and fins up for better control on drifts
-experienced the ability to make super sharp turns but track poorly with skag up
-need to play with rod holder placement
