Howlin wind and a Mixed bag
« on: August 28, 2017, 09:48:37 PM »
Seeing how tomorrow is a for sure blow out, decided to launch into the evening wind and potential rain:  got both and more than was comfortable but the fishing made up for it!

Threw a beetle spin (thanks Rusty for that technique) as best I could in the wind and caught several pan fish as well as a 1 lb 4 bass.  Unfortunately, all the pan fish were not stringer worthy.  3 Yellow Perch and 5 White Perch as well as 1 crappie, but all too small for the fillet knife.

Bass were biting well and I ended up landing 17.  12 were dinks  and the rest came in at 1-3, 1-4, 1-10, 2-0, and a 2-4.  Most caught on a Whopper when I could get an accurate cast in the wind.  Caught more grass than bass!!!

Highlight of the evening was a pole bending 27 inch 6 lb 7 oz Bowfin that inhaled a Whopper Plopper.  If that was all I caught, would have made my day.  The rest of the fish were icing on the cake!

After the rain started, I actually got cold!
