2017 is over
« on: December 30, 2017, 09:42:18 PM »
Today was the last trip of the year.   A balmy 46 degrees with 10 - 12 winds and had to get out before the freeze.  Caught the skunk, but had to try.  Next few days are not going to see the mercury above 30 and a bit too windy for me.     Some of the years highlights were a 24 lb Blue Cat caught on an ultralight with a beetle spin.  A citation Yellow Perch that qualified for a Master Angler Cert.   A PB Striper at 29 inches.  Bunch of tasty meals.   Some amazing sunsets, bunch of wildlife, good friends, good times and some tight lines.

778 LMB  (Majority were dinks, but a few pole benders)
182 White Perch
112 Striper
61 Yellow Perch
29 Bowfin
119 Speckled Trout
69 Chain Picks
154 Crappie

319 Trips, 1159 Miles,   911 hours,  and 16 Skunks.

Cheers to all and tight lines in 2018!

Wow, you kept track.  That is cool.  I may have to start, but then again it would be a very short list...  Great job!

Have a big discrepancy between my "fishing log" and my kayak tracking app on my phone.   The phone app is spot on, the updating my fishing log, not so much!

What apps are you using and what are they tracking?

The App is called "Map My Tracks".   It tracks where (visual map), speed and distance.  The activity I use is "kayaking" so the "calories" are most likely way off.  No option to differentiate between paddle and peddle and I drift a lot.

At the home page, I can see calendar, profile, and all my trips in map format.

I have used trace snow in the past for snowboarding and it works well.  There are other apps in the fitness category that can be used to track activities, but the "Map my Tracks" works for me.   Had a few glitches but upgraded to the very cheap "plus" version and haven't had a problem.    I keep my phone attached to PFD in a Lifeproof case and lanyard.   I have had to edit out a couple drives home when I forgot to hit the stop button on recovery!

An example of a Rudee trip:

That is neat.  Is the fishing log just a spread sheet you created or another app?

Very impressive Ron! I think you may fish more than sponsored professional bass fishermen. It's been an absolute pleasure fishing with you these past few years. Tight lines in the new year.  Cheers 🍻

Fishing log was a downloaded program from John Skinner.  Think it is called "Fisherslog" and downloadable for a one time fee of like $19.99.     Yeah, just checked, it is Fisherslog dots com site.

If savvy, I have seen some good excel spreadsheet types, but I lack the skills to make my own.

Old school pen and paper work well, but tough to tally the numbers or go back and search a time and place.

I may fish more than them, but I certainly catch less!    Just love being out there, especially with friends like you.  Cheers and Happy New Years!!!!

Withdrawals will set in by evening tomorrow......
