I saw this yesterday, too.....  So sad.  Trout were messed up in Va Beach, too.  Can anyone comment on whether the diminished trout and rock populations will allow an abundance of other species this season?

Really surprising that stripers would freeze to death, considering they overwinter as far as New England. Never heard of that before. It looks similar to a "fish kill" I saw on the Potomac River that turned out to be a commercial fisherman illegally dumping thousands of dead catfish.

I've heard that the freezing water can affect the salinity in certain areas.  I used to live down in virginia but I live in connecticut now and we get fish kills occasionally.  Most of the fish that winter over in our rivers are quite small, even though some push upper-thirty inch class.
