Some type of hybrid bass?
« on: January 30, 2018, 04:09:02 PM »
Went fishing in lake tecumsah and caught a few bass and picks. One of the bass I caught seemed to have little to no lateral line markings and had red eyes and a smaller than normal mouth. I attached a pic of the usual bass I catch there and the one in question ( the picture with me in it) is this some other type of bass or hybrid? Or do their appearances really change that much under conditions?

Nah, just a regular large mouth.   There can be some odd shapes, colors, and such, but pretty sure, he is just a "regular" bass.    In upper north landing last week, they were very dark.   Stumpy, they can be almost colorless.   Diet, water clarity, etc....

Haven't been to Dam Neck since early last year. Is the construction on the road down to the launch completed, I think Loon Ct? That road was closed much of the last year. Thanks.

Happy New Year!

Bill,

Yeah, Loon Ct is "re-closed".   Was open for a short window in the fall, and now the construction is back on and it is closed.

That figure's, Thx.  I like that area, but there are plenty of other places that aren't as huge an effort to reach. My next door neighbor used to be the Commanding Officer at Dam Neck.....back in the day, I could have jokingly asked him speed up the construction....LOL!

Bill,

Pull some strings and get the short dirt rd off Bull Pup Rd (just before the training village) filled in with some rocks.  Used to be a good place to launch, but the ruts are too deep now and can't be driven safely.  Even a kayak cart has trouble!

Also, used to be able to launch on the north end, but staged construction stuff there makes it a no go.
