Stripers
« on: February 12, 2018, 09:21:01 PM »
Went in search of bass or pan fish.   Couldn't find either in the North Landing.   Did manage four stripers with two that reached the keeper mark.   Lil fatties gave a great fight and made up for the chilly, windy and light rain trip.

???Nice fish. Is it 18" for keeper Stripers? I let a bunch of those go this past winter. Thought it was 21"
That's ok, they're probably 21"ers now!

For certain bodies of water, the minimum is 18 inches.   If you cross from North Landing River at Great Bridge, you enter "Salt Water" and the season and length are different.

"Striped bass in the Meherrin, Nottoway, Blackwater (Chowan Drainage), North Landing
and Northwest rivers and their tributaries plus Back Bay"
"2 per day, no Striped Bass less than 18 inches"

The "picture" I captured didn't come out very well, but the above is quoted from DGIF

Thanks for the info. I forgot about the changes that happen at the Locks in Great Bridge. Good thing I didn't keep them since they were caught in the E.R.
