Lightning Kayaks

Happy new year everyone.  Just surfing around YouTube and came across a video for a new pedal drive kayak.  Kinda of interesting as itís got similar dimensions as a Hobie outback, but they are about $600 less.  Looks interesting and I hope they can pull it off. Have a look at it here:

I had heard a few times here on the forum that the Hobie patent ended in 2018.  Looks like this is one of the 1st knock offs.

Should be interesting to see how this develops.

Pelican has copied the drive as well.  This one copies not only the hobie drive, the native seat, but appears to copy the Bonifide hull as well.  It will be interesting to see what happens.
