Rudee Disappointment Continues (3 small specks on 3/17/19)
« on: March 18, 2019, 05:01:38 AM »
I went to Buoy 44 restaurant (CBBT launch site)  first  early in the morning again.  I couldn't launch because of the strong north wind.   I fished the backup water, Rudee.  I caught 3 small specks for 8 hours of hard fishing.

Water temp: 48-52 F - no improvement since last Sunday.

Could be soon. I remember April was good last year.  Fished there today to see if they were around with no luck. Water temps could still be keeping things slow in the salt.

I was there from dawn ...til 2ish and not a bite.  I was down by the inlet and worked my way back; I even tried live lining some baitfish.   It was still a nice day out.

No need to know the date.
What matters is ocean water temperature and
Rudee inlet water temperature.
The fish move up the coast according to temperature.
Plus it minus a few days or weeks.
Theocean is48
The inlet is 54 degrees
Blues love 68 degrees

Fish get trapped in the inlet and that is what is being caught the ones that wintered over in the inlet.  That is my2 cent thought for the day.

That 2cents rings true. Blues are just starting to show up now in Hatteras + a little bit up the coast but only on the days when the warm water blows in.  I've marked 15 degree differences on successive days this spring in the water temperature down there.  The later the water warms up the shorter the season for Big Blues so let's hope it warms up soon....
